Must say, I'm pleasantly surprised to so that your from the UK Pseudolonewolf! Firstly, thank you for all of the MARKDEK chapters so far; they have kept me happily occupied with their greatness on days where I would be doing absolutely nothing otherwise.

The main reason why this comment exists is this; I would like to know if you would have any objections to the writing of a Wikipedia article on MARDEK as a series? It seems worthy of an article in my opinion.

If not, no worries, I wont ask again, but thanks for your the reply once it arrives.

Well, there's a page with a list of "browser games," although you might be aware of it already.
∞ LINK ∞

(Reads wiki page)

Oh wow... what a thin list.
And the DMOZ listing is giving me dust allergies.

Hmm... if that burning rope "game" is there, its probably worth a shot to add MARDEK (with approval of course).

I don't know why there's such a dearth of Flash projects on Wikipedia. Maybe it's the attitude that Flash is unprofessional due to the sheer amount of amateur work on the internet.

Makes you also wonder why there are articles not only for music albums and TV shows, but individual songs and episodes that probably few people know of.

I'd be very interested to see if a Wikipedia article about MARDEK would survive! It's something that I would *like* - it'd be very interesting to be able to say to people "something I've made has a Wikipedia article!" - but I've always just assumed that my work isn't notable enough and that any articles about it would be immediately deleted.
You are welcome to try to write one, but I wouldn't get my hopes up about it being accepted...

I'd just like to let you know that the Wikipedia article has just been put up, but we changed tack and decided to do the article on FigHunter itself, and we may write the game articles depending on what happens with the website's article.

Your probably aware of it by now as I've posted it in the forums to see if people want to go and make alterations and things, but it can be found at ∞ LINK ∞ if you want to take a look/remove/add things.

I am reluctant to edit the article myself for various reasons, but I do want to comment on a few suggested changes:

I consider this site "Fig Hunter" and not "FigHunter"... but changing the title might be a pain; I don't know how it works.

Does it really need to say my Real Name? Most people don't know me by that name so it's not really necessary. Some people mentioned in other articles are referred to only by their online usernames.

I don't live in Oswaldtwistle - I merely grew up there - and don't see the need to have my location shown anyway. Other articles tend not to include that information unless it's relevant, which for a website article it's not. All that's really worth mentioning about me is that I am a "British developer" who made the site, or something; it doesn't need to go into personal detail beyond that.

Does it need to say that there's a blog where I talk about 'my personal issues'? While accurate, it comes across as unnecessary detail and sort of creepy or something.

I'm not sure how important it is to have that section describing the Forum and obsolete past versions of the site... Would that knowledge be interesting to someone completely unfamiliar with Fig Hunter? Noting that there are 'community features' seems to be all that most website articles do, in my experience, though a brief mention could be made about the various unusual rating systems and profile features? I wouldn't say it needs to go into detail though, because people who already know what it is wouldn't need to read about it, and those who don't likely wouldn't have enough interest or understanding.

Lines like "Fighunter also utilizes the Temperament system for describing users. And recently, Pseudolonewolf has been experimenting with the Myers-Briggs system and has been adding functionality for that when users are setting their profile preferences" could perhaps be changed to simply "Fig Hunter utilises the Four Temperaments and Myers-Briggs systems for describing users" or something.

While I've certainly said in the past that Miasmon is Pokemon-inspired and everything, this too seems like unnecessary detail... All that really needs to be said is that it's a 'monster catching' game, as there are many games in that genre. I'd say it was only notable that it was 'Pokemon-like' if it actually used Pokemon intellectual property directly.

The bit about Beast Signer seems tacked on and, again, confusing for those who don't know what it is, and unnecessary for those who do... but I don't know what I'd write instead, if anything. Perhaps it could have its own brief section? But it's not finished, so I'm not sure.

The bit about MARDEK is probably what most people who'd come across the article would be familiar with... so perhaps it should go into more detail? Rather than going on about how many chapters there'll be and the various things I've said about that, perhaps there should be more - but not too much - elaboration on the general premise and gameplay of the games, including their remarkable length and retro style and things like that. Essentially, it should talk about what already is rather than what 'might be'.

While it's certainly good that the JayIsGames thing is mentioned - since it shows that MARDEK was noticed by some kind of publication of sorts - I wonder if there are any other reviews of MARDEK that could be found and quoted, just to show that the game is worth mentioning at all?
Perhaps also comments about the number of views it's got on Newgrounds and Kongregate would be notable.

Comments like "However it was much too difficult for the majority of players" (of Raider) are probably not Wikipedia-friendly because they seem like bias, even if they are true. Something along the lines of "it is notable for its difficulty" might be more neutral.

All the stuff about what I will do, all my various unreliable promises, are probably less worth noting than what has been done... maybe. I don't know though; I don't edit Wikipedia myself because I don't feel confident enough, so I don't know what kind of content is considered desirable.

There's no mention of Clarence's Big Chance? While it's not really a fantastically unique game, it is something that I've actually released, and would be more worth noting than my various airy promises, since some people may have discovered Fig Hunter via CBC, and it's also something that people could come to Fig Hunter and find right now rather than some distant future possibility.

I'd say the fact that Fig Hunter has its own wiki is also worth noting, because it shows that it's notable enough for that.

I'm not sure an article about Fig Hunter should be as long as this is... and I don't know what content I'd expect it to include either. Who would actually read it? I imagine someone reading a mention of 'Fig Hunter' somewhere, or playing one of my games and seeing the name Fig Hunter in it, and then looking it up on Wikipedia out of curiosity... What might they want to read when they got there in order to know more than they did before they searched?

Rather than taking heed of my specific comments here, something I'd prefer would be if other people would speak up in that thread or something and then the article could become some kind of collaborative project... Other people surely know better than I do about how to write Wikipedia articles.

I'm wondering whether the article would be able to last, since I imagine a lot of pages for 'small' sites get deleted as per the rules... I hope not, though, so then your efforts won't have been in vain.

Anyway, I've been very critical here, but I do appreciate you taking the time to do this and don't mean to be dismissive or to reject it completely or anything like that! Thank you!

Wow, that was a lot more text than I was expecting :) and I agree with your points, and I will pass them over to Ben, who did the writing. However, for now I need to try get the article back up, as it has already been deleted, which is irritating, plus the person who deleted it simply left a automated message that made little sense, and gives me little to improve upon.

However, I will struggle through, and try to approach it with a small amount more caution; apparently rushing in and creating the page without consulting other members of the site / established Wikipedia editors for help was not the way to do it, and this should have been obvious, so I do apologize for this mess.

Still, thank you for all your comments, and I'll see what I can do. Thank you for taking the time to read the article :)

If you do ever go for it, here are some 'reliable secondary sources' covering MARDEK:
It got a review on Jay is Games and was rated #2 on their top 5 2010 browser role-playing games.
∞ LINK ∞
∞ LINK ∞

It's not much, but it's a start...
You should probably ask here ∞ LINK ∞ whether or not MARDEK RPG is a notable enough subject, for starters...and if you're approved, I guess you can start writing the article?
First impressions are important! In order to prevent speedy deletion of the article, I suggest you write it in a personal sandbox first to get it developed. Then, you can submit it to the Articles for Creation page. If they decline, you'll have to leave it at that ...Otherwise, if you decide to create it instantly for Wikipedia mainspace, you risk a speedy deletion. Since deletion of any particular article gets logged, editors will know that 'Mardek RPG' was created and deleted before. That would be a problem, because if it gets created again, then editors might be annoyed and think that you're trying to spam-create an article about MARDEK!

Other articles seem to make it on Wikipedia, like these:
∞ LINK ∞
∞ LINK ∞
These only have a 'few' references. Maybe if you could dig up some more references for MARDEK, we could get an article for it?

Wow cheers for all that I'll be sure to take a look before I begin, whenever that will be, as I am very busy at the moment. darn coursework...

Also, as a side note, it's nice to see such enthusiasm for this, and I'd appreciate it if once this article has been written in sandbox , the brilliant people on here could take a look and suggest changes or additions, before it's finally created.

I am sorry for bothering you, especially for bringing up something that you probably don't even remember or care anymore.I was playing deliverance these days, when I stumbled in a problem. How do I fly over Barrierwood?I asked other players, but they just said that there is a button you need to press to make your character fly over forests, but they don't remember wich button is, they just said that it was explained in the old site (which I don't know if it still exists). So, for a guy who already has air crystal, how do I fly?

P.S:Beside Deliverance being a Pre-Mardek, there are a few unique things on it.The customization of weapons, spells and and outfits is amazing, and the idea of crystal abilities is excellent too.I really hope to see this in Mardek or other elemental crystal games, because I don't want to know that I collected 3 natural crystals and 1 moral crystal just to please a king and cover with dust in my backpack.

I'm pretty sure this is explained in the game after getting the crystal ... You could also just try every key and see what happens. So. That much for lecturing you. Unfortunately I don't remember the key myself anymore and my saves are gone somehow. But! This thread on the old site ∞ Fig Hunter ∞ says it's the W key. And that's probably right.

Hello, Pseudolonewolf.

I was just wondering - you know - that suppose one day you make all the games in your list. And you're a really wealthy man - full of fame and happiness. Will you learn something above Flash games? You know, say, MARDEK was finished. You could make it like a Lara Croft, Halo, or something.

I know you're pretty busy.
But Sir, please oh please quench this poor fan's insatiable desire to get to know you better! I would really like you so much more if you did.

Hello? I posted a comment on the Damserulean blog post about a day ago, but there was no answer (on purpose, maybe?). So just in case you haven't read it, I can get you a copy of Pokemon Black (or White) 2 for a very good price (nudge), and much earlier than (theoretically) possible in britain (nudge).

As mentioned before, the price for the game and shipping will probably be around 23 pounds. You might get a (slightly) better deal, but please remember that I need to make a (small) profit out of this.

There are other details that need to be sorted out, but if you're not interested (and to save effort), just leave a quick message. Thank you.

Hmm. Didn't think I was doing any favours writing that comment, but I did it anyway.

Simply put, this is just an offer to get a game earlier, and save a little money. If you're not interested, just walk away. No strings attached.

But if someone thinks of this as a opportunity to tarnish my name, so be it. If someone doubts the honesty of my words, I am glad to see that blind trust has no foothold.

Tokiwa... I have a request to ask you.

There is a reason why he is not requesting any farther help in his projects. Your creation rather interests me. I must admit. But It's not why I'm writing to you. The Pokemon black (or White) is already existing. and theres NO NEED to create another copy.

As mentioned before, Pricing your product may not only cause you loses, but also calls to a sentence for breaking TM orders.

I have left a message to comment. and not to buy a copy of your creation. Please comment back if you have reconisdered your actions.

Thank you.

I've no desire to have that game any sooner than its release date, whenever that may be, and I'm even less interested in doing deals with young teenagers on the internet.
Are you suggesting that you sell me the Japanese version or something though? I can't see how you could get an official English version 'much earlier' than its release date except through illegal means.
Either way, everything about this screams 'untrustworthy', and it's rather bold of you to make such an offer and then to effectively demand that I respond to it...
Tokiwa1997

Notice: Undefined index: FID in /home4/yalort/public_html/charcoal/code/common.php on line 11
Sorry. I should have given you more details. The idea was that once you accepted the deal, I would send you the japanese version (yes, an very important detail that I should have mentioned), and once you received it, send me some of that lovely stuff called money.

True, this has the unmistakable stench of shiftiness, and I'm sorry about that (too late now, though). To explain more clearly what I said (or wrote) a moment ago, the product would have traveled from the manufacturer, who would assemble it, then get bought (a tad more complicated than that, but I'll keep it simple) by a company or shop. Then I purchase the product, and which, if accepted, would get sent to you.

While not technically illegal (this is still a very gray line we're treading on), it is still immoral (I might be taking a cut out of the profits they (the people who made it) probably deserve).

Finally, as more of a argument, I didn't demand a response. Asking for one would be closer to what I was aiming for. Just a quick "get lost" or "bugger off" would have been more than acceptable. I hope this made you see it in a better light, and that you'll think of this as an apology (if you can call it that).

Right, sorry. One of the reasons I thought of this deal was because I remember you mentioning that you were thinking of learning japanese. Best way to learn something is to enjoy it while studying, or something similar.

Anyway, if you're still interested (I doubt it) it's still there. No need to reply.

Hello, I am RomadE.
You probably don't remember me, to which I'd be glad.

I was wondering if I could create a MARDEK fan dōjinshi. Well, it's more like retelling the entire MARDEK plot in manga format...
Now, before you accuse me of theft, I want you to know that I won't I take any credit for the plot nor any of the characters. I do not intend on creating any physical volumes nor make any profit from this project I had in mind, either. It's only for fun that I'm doing this; creating a MARDEK manga (or doujin, if you prefer) just so that other people (particularly manga fans and MARDEK fans) can read it.
I am also well aware that you dislike it when teenagers (particularly American teenagers) draw in anime (or manga) style, making it seen as if they lack a style of their own. I just want you to know that, while not exactly the case, anime (and manga) style is practically an art form. Every manga artist draws in his or her own style (Well, most of them anyway) and are easily distinguishable from one another. Afterwards, if a manga were to be adapted into anime, then the animators would try to make it resemble their respective style as much as the animation will allow it.

Look, I'm not trying to convince you to change your opinion towards American teenagers or anime and manga in general. And in fact, I'm pretty sure you already knew that manga style is not always the same when it comes to the artist that draw in that format (it's a rare case if it is, however).

Also, I know you may ask something like "Why are you telling me this? What is this trying to achieve?" or "Why would you ask for permission, and then give me a lecture I never even asked for?"
Well, it's just a little information I wanted to give you IN CASE (Sorry, I don't know how to indent, though I'm sure it's somewhere in the rules...) you weren't aware of this (though I'm sure it was a bit unnecessary).

Now, again, I seek no profit from doing this and take no credit for any of the plot nor any of the characters, nor do I intend to create any physical copies for this. I only want to do this for pure fun and for others to see. Also, I know that you consider your games to be an art, so keep in mind that me doing this won't affect you or MARDEK in any way.

You have every right to refuse me the permission to do this.

i despise being told advice but i still accept them. because If you do not have anyone to criticize you. then who's gonna tell you that you're wrong or you're right??? you do know about IGN? you know those worthless idiots who rate every game they see a 10 out of 10? maybe you should know what Criticizing does even to people who don't like it. if you put on your website (please don't hate on me or i ban u) then Nobody will hate a Single thing. NOT a single thing that you have. but they wont even hate on stuff that is breaking your game or making it annoying or anything like that. but Criticizing is not hating on something. its mostly trying to explain its wrong's and trying to find what is right. but one thing that is annoying about Criticizing people is that most of them are usually people who are talking right out of their Own asses. or they are just trolling. Which i find seriously irritating. because i sometimes see games being Rated by Complete amatures who Don't know what they are saying and just randomly bash on the game for no reason. i on the other hand Like to Point out flaws and Put up Signs about how good the game is and how nostalgic it can be and fun!
Critics!!! unite to drive away the trolls!
