I have been reading and noticed some similarities:

Mardek is like a cleric-classed Elan,
Deugan is like Roy,
Emela is like a female Vaarsuvius (if Vaarsuvius is male),
Vehrn is like Durkon,
Elwyen is somewhat like Haley,
and the Baron quarter of Legion is like a mechanical Belkar.

I can see what you mean... but Elwyn is a little too shy and Verhn is much more zealous than Durkon, and Deugan is less serious. But I guess this is because of the theme of the game, more lighthearted and jokey. Otherwise, I agree, and I must say you have some very nice observations.

Allow me to throw two more into the mix:
*The leader has some sort of protagonist anti-stereotype (Roy lacks the Fighter-type stereotype of being unintelligent. Mardek uses healing abilities as opposed to physical skills, which Deugan uses instead)
*The blond being the genre-savvy one (Deugan in MARDEK and Elan in OOTS)

EDIT: Oh, and there's also how pretty much everyone in the game is aware that they are in an RPG world, much like pretty much everyone in the OOTSverse is aware that they're in a webcomic. There's also a lot of Lampshade Hanging and Medum Awareness.

Oh, and I have a few things that I forgot to mention the first time:
Moric is like an alien Xykon (And is even undead at the end of Chapter 2.),
Dracelon is like an undead, cyborg, alien, and minor character/monster version of the MITD,
And the World's Saviours are like a less evil Linear Guild.

I do so love this comic... very funny and witty, and true to the nature of Dungeons and Dragons. Very well written, and very well received. I check it almost to the point of obsession, and devour each comic as soon as I notice it. It is sad that not too many people know of it... it is a treasure to be shared. And enjoyed. And stared at for hours on end.
