So I was really excited when I was editing my likes and adding H-something, then saw that H&M somehow already existed, and I was like "gee, I can totally now have someone to talk about H&M with!" and then I saw that it was on your dislikes, and it subsequently made me kinda sad. :(

In continuation of ∞ Fig Hunter ∞ , in order to avoid spamming the thread with unrelated conversation.

First off, men did not evolve from apes. We share a common ancestor. Moreover, the fact that it is called the Theory of Evolution, means that at the moment, it has withstood all attempts to prove it wrong. It is, at the moment, believed to be true, since the evidence has been in favour of it, and nothing has yet to prove it wrong.

Also, your link POP!ed, so if you would, please use a tinyurl so I can see what it was.

I didn't say Darwin was wrong, neither did I say he is right. I know it is only a theory, and I don't even care if it will be right in the end. What I meant is that at my school (maybe because it's Germany), we get taught Darwin's theorie is right as a fact with no alternative versions. I only used it to show the parallels of BELIEF and SCIENCE the way we are taught at school.

I'd love to give you another link, but I don't know how! What is a tinyurl?

Greetings from conservative Germany :)

∞ LINK ∞ For shortening links.

A theory is: a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena. "Only a theory" is a rather pointless statement, since there is no higher level of scientific fact (laws simply explain WHAT happens, theories explain HOW and WHY it happens). Darwin's theory of evolution is, therefore, regarded as scientific fact, unless someone finds proof that it is actually completely wrong.

I will correct the broken link. Your explanation of "theory" is interesting, but off topic and I don't feel like further discussing it. Still, thanks for the information.

His definition of "theory" is very similar to the one scientists use. We are also taught germ theory, atomic theory, and the theory of gravity with no alternate versions. I don't mean to be rude, but use context appropriate definitions.

I'm sorry to play a semantics game here, but we both evolved from apes and have a common ancestor. Ape is used to mean hominoidea, which includes us, other apes, and our common ancestor. In much the same way that "bird"(or aves) includes ducks and geese. This is relatively new, and is not yet taught in many public schools. But it is where mainstream science is at the moment, although mainstream science has yet to admit that the same property would mean that humans are not only apes, but monkeys. ∞ LINK ∞
