That's interesting. I've never really thought about it so deeply before. I think that he is certainly an immoral drell, but he was raised and taught to be - it's never something he consciously chose to do, it's something he was immersed in from birth. To roughly quote Skyrim, which is better - to be born good, or to be born evil, and become good through conscious choice? I think he is genuinely repentant for his actions, and even if he is heartless in some ways, he's so slick and calm about killing that he's intimidating.

My favourite Mass Effect Character is probably Samara though. ^^

You have got a point, but perhaps his kepral's syndrome reminds him of his mortality, which then leads him to reconsider his life. Before, he was an assassin. A heartless killer with no soul, but now he realises that he has a son who needs him, and that he should dedicate the rest of his life to use his skills to kill bad people. What I really want to say is, although he is a good person now, he used to be a trained killer for hire, and no matter what he does, he can't forgive himself for (indirectly) getting his wife killed, abandoning his son, and his past as a gun for hire (albeit a very classy and well trained one).

In combat, his throw ability is useful for disabling groups (I usually get the area evolution) of troopers, mechs and collectors. his warp is good for getting rid of defenses so he can deal massive damage to organics with his shredder ammo equipped sniper rifle (great for killing collectors), and his drell assassin class power is good for inflicting further damage. Overall, Thane isn't good against mechs and shields, but incredibly powerful against high health organics (see that krogan with no armor? he's going to die in a second).

My favourite character in mass effect would be Urdnot Wrex. He might not be as well spoken as Thane, but when he puts up his biotic barrier and immunity, coupled with a maxed out Krogan Battlemaster class power, he is, literary unstoppable. I used him as my team's tank every time he was in my party (Wrex! there's a bunch of husks ahead, so get mauled while i shoot them with my HMWSR Sniper Rifle!).

Anyway, if you want to talk about mass effect, give me a message! Or better still, when mass effect 3 comes out, maybe you could join my Special Forces squad! (or I could join yours, hmm...)

Dedicate the rest of his life to using (rather than 'use') his skills to kill bad people. Okay, fixed. I wish you could fix comments even after they've been posted for a while...
