They're quite reminiscent of Playstation/Nintendo 64 graphics, which is probably the aesthetic you were going for. They look nice!

I do have to agree with Onisuzume, though; I do prefer your sprites. They felt...different, somehow? Like they had more personality, maybe? Which is odd because these are animated, but still. Whatever style you choose, I hope it works out for you.

It's natural behavior.

Is it, though? I may be misremembering, but I believe I saw a study that showed a majority of rats expressed empathy and would make personal sacrifices to help another rat. And humanity couldn't have gotten to the point it's at today if everyone was only looking out for themselves -- surely there's something at play there? We are evolved to look out for each other as well as ourselves.

It is an understandable response, but it still saddens me to see it. So many of the world's problems can be traced back to that lack of empathy and the "someone else's problem" response.

I would donate to the earthquake victims. Maslow's pyramid and all; life and security have to come first.

I am...honestly more than a little disturbed by the people claiming they don't care, but at least they're being honest.
Forum: Would you rather have a tail or antlers

Wouldn't they just get in the way, though? As far as I know, antlers don't have strong (or any?) touch receptors, so you wouldn't be able to feel what you have on them in the same way you'd be able to feel with your hands or arms. And from an evolutionary standpoint, their only purpose is to be useless, dead weight. I'd rather not have to grow a huge, useless resource sink, I'm frail enough as it is!

This looks lovely! I think the chess-based monsters are particularly amusing. A dual type-matchup system sounds pretty complicated (especially if everything has two body types), but it's also quite interesting! I'll enjoy seeing where you take it.

I've also been spending a lot of time working on some personality website thing!! I bet everyone's totally interested in that.

Aw, I'm interested in that! Some of the few times I've seen you happy on this site are when you're talking about personality models. It seems to make you happier than talking about game design, even! You seem to be very passionate about it, and I hope you're enjoying working on the site.

What. o_O

Tail, I suppose. Antlers serve no practical purpose, they're nothing but a resource drain. Tails can be used for balance and kinesthesis. Would our tails be functional, though? Humans lost their hindbrain, so with nothing to control it the tail would just be a useless growth.

Well, at first I immediately gravitated toward "thinky".

But then I read this:
Quote:
As I see it, both sites will have different communities, ideals, and hate each other unjustly, WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON!?

And you know what? No.

This is exactly the reason why this site is so toxic and why A β Pseudolonewolf has been avoiding it. I had hoped we could at least acknowledge the other site's legitimacy, as that might lead to a path of more inclusivity. But no. The moment A β Pseudolonewolf tries to take a mature approach to this and propose a possible solution, we start jumping toward an "us versus them" mentality that is just going to make everything worse.

If that's a joke, then it's in poor taste, SavageWolf. I don't believe I would be suitable for the "feely" site, but I know for certain that if this is the direction this community is going down, it isn't a place I'm comfortable with, and I can't blame anyone else for feeling the same.

I do miss FLIGS. As others have said, I enjoyed how it allowed us to say exactly why we liked a post, instead of a generic "I like this" button. We can like things for so many different reasons and in so many different ways -- a simple counter feels hollow in that regard.

I think that perhaps it would have been best if it was purely positive, so that you could only give positive votes if you liked the post (except for the "support" category, maybe). The main problem (and abuse) of FLIGS was the negativity inherent in it, so if that was cut out, I think it would be a very nice system.

He is busy with university right now, I believe. He's focusing on that and improving his art skills before he goes back to making games. This will probably take a while, unfortunately. He also finds game-making to be emotionally draining, so it will probably be a while before he feels well enough to return to it.

Even better news: the entire game has already been translated across two blogs, though the writing is lower quality than Orenronen's and there is no music. ∞ LINK ∞ goes up to the middle of chapter 4; ∞ LINK ∞ covers chapter 4 up to the epilogue.

Personally, though, I found Dangan Ronpa 2 to be pretty awful in comparison to the first game, so it might be better to be experience it serially through Orenronen's translations. Any speculations you come up with while reading are probably going to be much, much better than the actual plot. Enjoy it while it lasts.
