As a fellow artist, I am totally with you on this. I would hate for you to keep doing it the old way just to cater to others' nostalgia. For me, what has drawn me to your games, is that they feel more real to me because they were a labor of love, and that means they contain a bit of you. Losing that to suit others would just be folly IMHO.

It all sounds fine and great with me, totally your choice as the creator and all, and I'm excited to see the future of Mardek. There's just one gripe/question I have, and it might just be something I don't fully understand.

I love the idea of no levels...pointless things really that have no real basis in the type of project you are talking about. Keeping your scores and values within a certain range makes great sense. It will allow you a lot of freedom with adding new things. But there should still be some sort of permanent progression because games like this, even episodic ones, require that feeling of accomplishing growth to keep the players invested. Just my opinion really, but if the game is only about accruing a variety of items then it's really not about the characters actually learning anything, or developing in any real way outside of the story (which is totally important too, maybe even moreso).

I think you could accomplish this by keeping masteries. It's a simple and awesome feature that already exists and pursuing them would allow the game areas to keep that same old replayablility. Also, since can still use the unmastered abilities of equipped gear and items, it keeps that sort of grinding as an optional activity, making the game work great for both types of players.

Just my thoughts, nothing vital, but I figure that's why you want to have a community, to provide you with different viewpoints.

Hey I'm new here. Just discovered Mardek recently, but I'm blown away by the way you do things. I was so bummed to hear that it had been so long since you updated this great game.

I think Patreon, Kickstarter or any other option you find to use to pursue this thing that you are so good at is a no-brainer. I'd be glad to get on board for regular content, and setting it in a more developed world can only be even more enriching (even though I don't know much about that other world) . I read about some of your other stuff and I think bringing all those various mythologies/stories/whatever together could make for a heck of a dynamic world and if you placed Mardek there....the results could really be amazing.

Whatever you do, I'm a fan.

Never mind. After a lot of searching I found it. Chrome saves differently than internet explorer. The path is as follows for anyone else who can't find their save files.

Remove the double slashes, replace with singles.

More crafting with the drop items would be nifty. Mainly potions and such but perhaps it could be used to introduce a few optional skills.

I'm a writer and tabletop gaming enthusiast who enjoys good, old-fashioned rpgs. This is why I found Mardek and fell in love with its snes charms. I just don't care for MMORPGs or these modern flashy games that take all of the imagination out of my gaming experience. But BLAH, I'm rambling.

Just wanted to say heya.

I am playing on google chrome. I have tried searching through %appdata% and have found nothing. Even ran generalized searches of C: of data.fighunter.com Mardek and lots of other things...nothing.
In fact, the only place I can find anything is on the adobe online storage (website storage settings panel) where it lists fighunter as unlimited and using 54 kb.

Anyone know a solution? I really want to back up my saves before playing too far in (I recently lost all my saves due to a cache dump).

I love the Mardek games and wanted to get to know more about their creator and if there was a community around it.
