My view on this matter is heavily depend on me being very unfamiliar with guns of any sort and me feeling very uncomfortable around subjects that go hand in hand with typical aggressive machismo stereotypes (like for example football and cars also). I don't know if that's clear though, since maybe that is a very personal stereotype of me, but I have the impression that owning and knowing how to handle a gun is somewhat seen as a test of some manlyness, or toughness in general. People draw some kind of feeling of selfworth out of it, which, as it seems to me, chiefly wants to downgrade the value of others, the ones who don't fit that sterotype, instead of simply feeling good about themselfes. The case presents itself to me the same on the topic of cars (or sports cars) and also football.

Anyway, I irrationally feel uncomfortable about guns, is what I want to say, so I am biased obviously. So my natural reaction would be: I want to ban all guns and production of guns too.

Of course that is a) not possible and b) also not reasonable if possible. The argument that criminals, who are the main problem related to guns, are defined exactly by not following laws is a convincing one. And a world where all people who do follow laws have no guns but people who follow them still have guns, is not favourable. On the other hand, I do not see criminals all too often, or at least notice them. But when everybody around me would have guns all the time, I definitely would not feel save about it. There are a lot of not-exactly-criminals who I wouldn't trust around anything like a gun. Of course they could, in a drunken stupor, also take a stone and throw that on my head and it would have the same effect as a gun, in some cases, but that wouldn't satisfy their machismo instinct as much.

Now I digressed again into my irrational fear territory of course. In view of that, I am for registration and regulation. For every gun. I follow the simple logic that a criminal would not be allowed to have a gun, so if you find a gun on somebody who is not registrated for it, you would at least have a reason to investigate it, if registrated the case is already cleared. This has of course to go hand in hand with education and schooling on that matter, much as you proposed, I'd say. Sounds reasonable in general, from my uneducated perspective.

One thing to add to that: Age restriction on the other side. Regions in Germany where the old hunters strife through the woods have become dangerous for nature lovers. They are advised to wear brightly coloured road safety vests, so the old hunters don't think them to be boars or something.

All around I would feel a lot saver with reasonable people who are also well trained for all sorts of occasions, with guns, and ordinary people, who are in general stupid, drunk or maybe only careless, and also tend to panic, with no guns.

Oh, and on a side note: From an engineering perspective, guns are very interesting and fascinating, I'll admit any time. But it's also very sad to me that so much brain matter and hard work had to be put into a deadly tool like that.

OR, I remembered that wrong and you rather have to save the side on your PC and then you automatically also save a swf file which is the flash game. If that doesn't work anymore nowadays, we can do something with, I dunno, dropbox or something.

That is very easy to do so yourself with downloadhelper. Unless that does not work anymore for some reason. Then we could probably arrange something, because I do have them.

I would say you nailed that analogy pretty much down.

I think the majority of the people who cared about keeping things going more or less did not make it to Alora Fane. Also, most possibly aren't sure how 'fitting' it is to post there, what with all the trying to be a more positive community or whatnot over there, and not wanting to spoil it for the kids and all.

I know at least that I have some issues in that direction. I'm not sure how I fit into there, but I am sure of how I can/could act here without no one taking somehow offense on that. It's most likely dumb worries, but that does not mean others don't also have them.

I really don't have a lot of time at hand that I would be willing to spend by applying even a resemblance of effort to anything except what I have to, so I am not able to give an in depth answer that would be satisfying and conclusive.

Just let me state in this place my general contempt towards philosophy. Philosophy is to me a waste of time and most certainly nothing you'd pay anyone for. What philosophers do, anybody can do, and it bears exactly as much practical value as what anyone does while sitting on the toilet over a particularly tasty curry from the foreday.

On to the topic: I voted yes. Because I indeed consider thoughts to be pretty much anything happening in the head, especially when it comes to problem solving. And no further arguing about it, because all the rest on this topic is merely pointless semantics. If your prof doesn't want to call that 'thoughts', then good for her. If I define a thought by something which necessarily needs language then obviously thoughts are not possible without it. But if you want to do that, why ask the question at all? Philosophers are stupid like that, I know, but I still wonder.

You took almost all the obvious and easy ones. Also, I am almost sure I've read somewhere that the Power Rangers did use that explosion from their transformation to take out some minions once or so.

Hero: Explain Kid
Ability: Can travel anywhere, be it deep space, underwater or into the blood vessels of a living human. Never is affected by any environment.
Personality: Gets on the nerves of everybody. Is a giant smart-ass. Good for retcon missions if it isn't important that the enemy knows you're there.
Based on: Almost every kids show that features science and explaining it. Also Jimmy Neutron and Batman.

Neutral: Thousandtongue
Ability: Speaks every language ever.
Personality: Gets along with everybody, more or less. Travels a lot. Could make a good diplomat.
Based on: Every show in which all people understand the main cast and vice versa no matter where they are.

Hero: Anti-force
Ability: Survives explosions and falls from high places easily. Still is afraid of being cut by a knife.
Personality: Drama queen and scaredy cat.
Based on: Every gag anime where though considered a threat, bombs never do more than making you a little dusty. Also Western cartoons.

Hero: The Main Protagonist.
Ability: Has a lot of luck, everything falls in order for him, being gutsy and taking the highest posisble risks will lead to certain victory.
Personality: Believes in himself and everyone else too.
Based on: Everything. Especially Yu-Gi-Oh, where his main 'skill' is drawing the right cards at the right moment.

Villain: The Princess.
Ability: Can make everyone and everything break out into song and dance choreography. Will eventually lead to detah through exhaustion.
Personality: Always happy when people sing. If not, will make them do it.
Based on: Disney movies, but not only those.

Villain: The Handicapper
Ability: Makes everyone always wait for him to recover after being hit. And then being surprised he survived it and letting him attack in turn. He also makes people shout out their sneak attacks so that he can react to them.
Personality: Condescending mother f*cker, loves monologues too and hearing about the personal backstories of everyone, which incidentally his power also makes them tell.
Based on: Almost every anime and fighting movie. Where Somebody for example vanishes, the enemy does not know from where he will get attacked, and then they shout 'Over here' and attack after that. And similar. Was very prevalent in Naruto.

Villain: Kitchen Bomber
Ability: Can make every food explode.
Personality: Loves to cook.
Based on: Clumsy characters who will explode the kitchen by trying to make a sandwich.

Hero: Shoujo Superstar
Ability: Can create sparkles that will blend the enemy. Also shoots stars from her eyes.
Personality: Very vain. Always in search of the perfect boy friend who invariably will turn out to be a villain (very usefull additional ability for the hero league)
Based on: My prejudices from shoujo manga.

Villain: Boobmaster
Ability: Deadly ancient Kung Fu technicque which utilizes the boobs as the main weapon. Will knock down enemys with unnatural movements of the boob which temporarily gains the flexibility of a water filled ballon and the impact of a gun.
Personality: Perverted, loud and very obnoxious.
Based on: A whole lot of anime and also games, that cater to young boys and know nothing of biology.

Villain: Bloody Pervert
Ability: Can shoot out fast streams of blood from his nose with never ending resources when sexually excited. Those can propell him but also injure enemies, have the force drive of a hydrant.
Personality: Easily excited by breasts. Works well in team with Boobmaster.
Based on: Sanji from One Piece. But also other anime characters.
