MARDEK RPG: Chapter 3

The third chapter in the story of MARDEK. Mardek is now a Royal Knight, who's sent on various missions for the King. Of course, things aren't that simple... And Rohoph's still alive; the Governance de Magi can't be havin' with that.

Chapter 3 includes oodles more party members, and less linear gameplay. Exciting.
It took forever to make - three years! - because I recoded the engine from scratch, which took a while and many failed attempts, and removed a lot of enthusiasm that I had for the game.

This chapter contains 40+ hours of gameplay, and includes remade versions of the first two chapters.

I was lucky enough to find Pseudo's brilliant work at the young age of 14... Ever since I played his first MARDEK game, 'Chapter one: A Fallen Star'... I was hooked. The story line intrigued me. It starts so fast, with extremely powerful heroes, Mardek and Deugan. The first intense rush addicted me to the game... I was unstoppable.

I slayed the dragon and saved the princess (Who strangely looks like Mardek's mother... ALOT). I felt great... Then it hit me. It was the two boys imagination the whole time! Never have I played a game that surprised me THAT quickly.

I continued playing the game, enjoying the quick, hilarious transcripts Pseudo must have put months, if not years of thought and work into. The graphics remind me of when I first started playing games as a child. This brought me a wonderful feeling. As I slowly learn't how to play the game properly, I discovered the enormous amount of work put into the enemies, the items, the different skills, the maps and character personalities, and as I mentioned before, the transcripts.

This game was not like any other I have played before... Ever...

The first RPG I played was 'The Legend of Zelda, Orcarina of Time' which is and always has been my favourite game of all time. The 'Mardek series' masterpiece is easily my second favourite game... And to be honest, it just under Zelda...

If this game was sold in-stores, I'd buy two copies, just incase the first one was lost or damaged.

When I eventually finished the third chapter on Kongregate (After 160 hours of gameplay), I realised I was lucky enough to play one of the greatest games ever made. I give Pseudolonewolf my upmost respect, and congratulate him on a game that will live with me forever...

I am awaiting the day for the forth chapter to come out... Oh what a glorious day that will be...

Thankyou Pseudo... Thankyou. 9.9/10

"I slayed the dragon and saved the princess (Who strangely looks like Mardek's mother... ALOT)"

You know, I hadn't realized that until you brought it up, but that actually makes a whole lot of sense.

Apparently, psychologists have found out that people picture their perfect girlfriends/boyfriends/spouses as resembling or having the exact same traits as their parents. And seeing as Mardek wasn't the only person imagining that adventure... If you look carefully, you'll see that the princess could actually be a compilation of the characteristics of Mardek's and Deugan's mothers. She's basically Lilanea with Polly's hair color.

So that was pretty much a stroke of pure genius on A β Pseudolonewolf 's part.

Or maybe a coincidence? Who knows... But I'm sure Pseudo won't mind taking the credit! ;) Regardless of the interesting fact you brought up, Pseudo is nothing less than a genius.

You know, deep down inside... I wish I had a tenth of the creativity he possess... I wonder what its like...

A good team involving Gloria and/or Legion? Sure, I can help there. First off, members who are good with them together are few and folly, but I think these are they best choices:

Meraeador: Believe it or not, Meraeador is probably the best choice if you want to have both Gloria and Legion in your party. He can cast haste on Gloria, making her nulling and stat lowering skills very helpful. Also, he can ressurect/heal Legion, so he's a great choice to be paired up with Legion and Gloria.
Elwyen: Another good choice, she is water type, thus she makes the team all different element types, which is always useful. She can play her Spirit Song to raise Gloria and Legions' magic attacks, and she probably won't die if you trained her well enough.
Sharla: She can boost agility, making Legion able to attack more often and she works well with Gloria. Also, she can put up a null of air, making Gloria's job easier. Lastly, she can raise defense, which is good to use on Gloria, since Gloria has low physical defense.

Now for the two separately. First I'll do Legion, since I use him more:

Solaar and Meraeador: The best team to have together with Legion. If Legion runs out of MP, Solaar and Meraeador can both raise his spirit up, and they both can ressurect him. Not only that, but Meraeador can put the boss/enemies asleep, making Legion good to go in for the kill and Solaar put up his astral form.
Donovan and Zach: Donovan may not be the best, but if you want a physical damaging party, this is the way to go. Donovan can boost Legion or Zach's strength, making them slaying machines. Legion can pull out some decent status effects on the enemy, and Zach can coup de grace them to their graves. Keep boosting Zach's strength with Donovan, put up status effects with Legion, and you will be wiping bosses of the face of this earth. Plus, with Donovan's burn skill, you can lower defense, making the killing even easier.
Sharla and Solaar: A good team, suprisingly. Sharla can boost Solaar's defense, Solaar can boost Legion's spirit, and Legion can dish out the damage. A straightforward team, and a good defensive one, if you want defense.

Now for Gloria:

Elwyen and Solaar: Solaar can boost Elwyen's spirit to dangerous levels, and Elwyen can in turn use runic rhapsody or vigorous march for Legion to dish out high damage. This is an all around team, with few flaws.
Donovan and Sslen'ck: A physical based party, and the one I beat the final boss with. Gloria puts up the nulls, Donovan boosts Sslen'ck's strength, and Sslen'ck uses perforate so knock most enemies off the floor.
Sharla and Meraeador: A speed-based team, good for getting in lots of blows fast. Meraeador should use potion spray on everyone to enter slaying squadron mode, and Sharla should either be boosting defense, boosting speed, or putting up an air null. This is actually a fairly good team, despite appearances.

That's all I can think of. I hoped this helped you. Good luck.

The plugin that you are missing is called Adobe Flash Player. Most browsers automatically download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, however.

If you are using an Apple iPhone, Apple iPod Touch or Apple iPad, there is no version of Flash in existence that you can run, as Adobe doesn't like Apple currently.

Did anyone realize how silly it is, that the final boss has to fight with 3 light people, and a girl who has that spell ( I can't remember the name) to majorly damage undead foes.

I really admire the Aeropolis Shaman, and if I were in the game, I'd probably be Donovan!

Some things I expect to happen in the next series:

Elwyen will not battle Mardek, at least, not alone. Maybe she'll team up with someone, and betray them or something in the end because of the love for Mardek, and the need to get back at Rohoph. She plays too much of a subtle and indirect role to take on Mardek's team solo. Mardek might even have a baby girl with Elwyen, called Melvin, Marvin or something.
I wonder how Gloria and Mereador will come together.
We might get to go to other planets, via either Rohoph's spaceship, Enki's spaceship, or even through Solaar's.

I wonder if Pseudolonewolf will let us play as different characters, i.e. those not involving Mardek, e.g. Emela wakes up and fights a horde of darkness monsters in the Water Temple to see Steele. She teams up with Deugan to fend him off.
Maybe the Fig-Elemental person from Aru will try and track Solaar down.
Maybe we could even play as Gaspar being lost somewhere before actually landing on Belfan.
It'd certainly add variety and interest to the game...

Though I am male, I think that Mardek and Elwyen would go together, and Gloria and Mereador will have some future (Despite the large age difference). For now I don't think we should be heading off to the planet of the Annunaki. I think only one or two games there is enough, because I don't know how we're going to buy weapons and stuff there. Unless we have Annunaki disguises or something. But yeah, since Mardek is part space fantasy it would be really cool to venture off to the mysterious outdoors of space. Enki's spaceship would a possibility, I feel like we should find where Enki is. He could be a major plot hook, this is also a great chance to find out other regions of Belfan, because the northern continent seems restricted and the southern continent is just a peninsula.

That's because the chest in the Desert Cave contains a Lv. 40 Bone Demon. You have to wait until the endgame to be able to defeat it since it will be impossible to beat when you first complete the Dark Temple. If you're prepared, the battle is pretty easy, for me at least. The Bone Demon drops the best weapon for Zach, the Yin and Yang.

if you want to open the chest the strategy is more or less the same as the security demon with the exception of equiping Mardek with the Aeropolitan Scimitar and Legion with a topaz or moonstone. ∞ Fig Hunter ∞
