Wait, you know of Tae Kwon Do too? I thought I was the only one on this site with any knowledge of it... And I'm kinda ashamed by it, since I left my Tae Kwon Do Club at school when I became a white-yellow belt (It's a step above white) and have severely fallen behind the rest in physical and advancement standards. I'm kinda ashamed when I'm asked anything about Tae Kwon Do for those reasons....

So! What belt are you then, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm an orange belt with a green stripe, and I (along with my sister) should be testing for my green belt next month if all goes well. If not, then we'll have to wait 'til February or later.

My school uses the traditional colors:White, to orange, to green, to purple, to brown, to red, and then varying degrees of black. For all colors except for from white to orange, require us to test for a stripe before we can test for our next solid color, though we consider a stripes a rank seperate from the solid colors. We get the chance to test once every three months when Grandmaster Whang came, provided the instructors thought we were ready.

Woah, well that's considerable amazing. How many patterns did you get to learn up to that point? This post makes me wanna go back to that club... I wonder if I still have the stats for it...

As for you, you keep up what I couldn't get to.
You got the moxie to beat anyone in the ring.

Thanks! I still get knocked around a lot, but I'm getting better and the head instructor thinks I'm ready to spar at the next tournomant.

As for your question, I'm not quite sure what a pattern is. My school doesn't use that term. If you're meaning forms, though, I've learned seven: The first five basic forms and palguyes one and two. If that wasn't what you meant, just let me know and I'll awnser that.

Actually, that answers my question.
I only learned 2 or 3 before leaving, and they're the basic ones.
Easy to memorize and based on newbie moves (moves that get taught at the start).

And as for tournaments, I didn't see my club going to one, that could just be due to the fact I stopped going to Tae Kwon Do after a while...
Well, you keep learning what I haven't.

I did something similar, I got my first degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do then left to do Haganah and later Shotokan. After both of those fell through I let loose and gained a lot of fat (not much weight surprisingly). I got back into fitness about a year ago, and only a few months ago I climbed Half-Dome. I actually go to the same gym as my old Tae-Kwon-Do instructor.

Well, that's interesting. I guess you must have a load of experience then...
As for me, I'm thinking of getting back to Tae Kwon Do as well.
I feel like brushing up on my skills and not feeling like a boulder of fat who does nothing but watch One Piece and Medabots and eat nearly anything digestible...

The hardest part is starting up again. Once you start you'll probably get hooked, but starting requires the most work. There are usually a few mental blocks to get over, like "I'm tired" or "maybe another day" or "I'll do something later." I usually deal with at least one of these blocks every workout day, but since I got a strict time management plan, I always start.
