MARDEK IV

I probably will work on MARDEK some more!!
But it's most likely going to be an episodic reboot of the series, starting from the beginning with many altered ideas.
Change is good, right? Why, there's nothing that people like more than seeing the things they've grown attached to changed almost beyond recognition.

Anyway, I wrote about it at length here: ∞ LINK ∞

Oh wow! That sounds AWESOME! All of the changes sound great to me! Ignore the naysayers (the ones over here are just little boys anyway --not your target audience).

I'm a story writer myself, so I get why you'd want to reset after all these years, as well as the urge to move your characters to a stronger setting. (Actually, I'm doing the exact same thing myself right now, I was kind of amused by that).

The only change that surprised me was the erasure of Social Fox. He played a fascinating role in the original version. I look forward to seeing how you've replaced him!

I'll definitely donate if you set up a patreon --it won't be much (I earn minimum wage myself) but at least I can guarantee one patron!

I can't wait to see Mardek reborn! Good luck!

Everyone should be his target audience and Pseudo should not ignore the negative people, regardless of age. Yeah they may not support him unless they steal mommies and daddies credit card but they still tell him what they want, and it may also be what other people want. I bet even the young kids will like the new Mardek if they give it a chance.

My age is fake - I set my birthday to 01/01/2001, while in actuality I will turn 18 years old this November. Perhaps not your definition of "little boy" you can look down at.

Ignore us? Why? We never made any attack on Pseudo, we just stated our opinion. Brushing people off, because they don't share your view and because of their age is "oh-so-adult" move, isn't it?

Teens generally don't have bank accounts or income. For an independent digital creator they are not a helpful audience.

What's important to realize is that Pseudo is an independent creator, and he doesn't have to work on a project he has no interest in. People wanted more Mardek, so he redesigned the project in such a way so that he could be excited for it again. If we don't like what he's offering he may decide it isn't worth working on and we won't get any Mardek at all. So yeah, I'm going to tell him to ignore negative comments--especially if they're just coming from teens who can't support him in the first place-- because I'm selfish, I want more Mardek, I legitimately think the reboot sounds awesome, and I can pay.

As you pointed out yourself, you weren't being totally negative, so my remarks really weren't about you. Don't take offense!

Alright, I might have overreacted, fo which I apologize - perhaps your use of words "over here" was something that made me assume you were talking of this specific comment section.

Well, I am definitely not telling him to drop the project entirely, since I am looking forward to some aspects of it, after all.

Well, may as well post what I think amidst this negativity in the comments!

I personally love the idea of combining Alora Fane with MARDEK. Sure, the character's aren't exactly the same, the setting is different, and the uniqueness of the races don't seem as unique, but all in all, everything else is solid and a grand idea! I'm sure whatever you produce I'll love, no matter if it's not exactly what it was originally like.

I think in truth, most people here 'fear' the changes, and so they counter by asking to keep the original. I personally think they need to get over that and look at the interesting things in the post, like the battle system and character focused plotlines. The potion system is also a great idea, in my opinion.

All I really wanted to say was this is YOUR project, don't let other people's words who were never appealed by your universe in the first place let you down! Keep going! Keep striving, because the universe is yours, in a sense.

Well it is his decision, after all. My opinion stays just that, which is exactly why I don't exactly hate on that decision.

But it doesn't change the fact that I might feel a little bit... let down, if that's the right way to put it? That's pretty much it, was any of that really "negativity"?

To be honest Pseudo, I am not super happy about the fusion of MARDEK and Alora Fane. I personally love MARDEK and think its perfect the way it is. Except for what happened with Deugan but that's only because I'm his fangirl. I too don't think Deugan should be fear, but then again you're the one who created him and you know more about him that we ever will.

Don't get me wrong I do understand where you're coming from on all of this, and I will still play the new MARDEK since its my absolute favorite online game. But fusing the two worlds together think this just sounds like a bad fanfiction.

The whole episode idea is absolutely fantastic and will hopefully put less strain on your mind than trying to come out with these huge rpgs.

You have some great ideas mixed in with the ones that I think aren't very good. Like the locked parties, it forces us to maybe use characters that we never would have used before and to change strategies because of it. The Zelda like potions. As a lover of the Zelda series I think this will go over very well. Though I love leveling in rpgs with the episodes I can see how it won't work so I'm totally fine with that. In fact I love just about everything you're doing with the equipment and battle system. Though I do like the idea of using elements instead of emotions, emotions are still really cool.

You've got some good stuff and some bad stuff in my opinion. And while I'm not pleased with all the changes, I am looking forward to seeing Mardek and Deugan back in action.

I also have a question if you don't mind answering it. Will we still be able to play the classic MARDEK here on FigHunter?

I Really Like That You're Up And Working Again!!! But All The New Stuff... Ugh.
I Really Don't Like All The Changes, At All...

The Potion System Is Not Acceptable By Me, I'm Used To Fighting Monsters Till I Have Enough Money To Buy Buy 99 Potions For Everyone! But This New System Is Not All That Great...

I Like The Idea Of New Races But Mardek Being A Hybrid? I Hope At Least The GdM Are A Good Change, Because I'm Really Used To Creatues With One Eye In Hoods Called Annunukai...

No Elements? Just Emotions? They Battle With Emotions? Gosh Pseudo, You've Really Gone Downhill This Time... And I Thought Clarence RPG Was A Bad Idea. And Also, Deugan + Fear = NOPE!
I Thought Deugan Was The Really Brave One...

My Favorite Male Characters Turned Into Females? My Favorite Characters Gone Black!?! (Not That I'm Racist Or Anything But, Eh...) I'm Used To The Old Mardek, That Game Has Been Stuck In My Soul As My Favorite Game Since It Came Out! :(

The Idea Of Updates Every Week Though Is A Perfect Idea Though!!! ( Just Trying To Say SOMETHING Positive!)
But I Hope You Get Rid Of Some Of These Ideas And Keep Most Of It Original...

~Best Wishes Pseudolonewolf!!!

P.S. I Would Also Love To See Peudo Himself
In The Game Though!!!

Please learn to write proper English...

You capitalize only the first word in the sentence, names and other special words, not every single word...

That being said, I also don't support the new setting at all, neither do I support emotion concept in MARDEK.

That and I'm a strong Clarence hater, so regarding most of the points above, I do agree.

Thank you for agreeing, fine young man... But if you read one of my replies made about an hour ago, you will find my answer to why i type like I do...

and, and....AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!! I Can't Stand To Not Type Like I Do!!! I Type Faster Like This So Just... Ignore It, Okay?

Huh, I have really mixed feelings about this. Like I said, I much preferred the original setting and I'm not all that fond of elements being replaced.

Things like Deugan's masked uncertainties is something we shouldn't exactly know from the very start - it won't exactly work if you introduce him as fear-elemental person.

Temples and Rohoph's hatred of Darkness will also lose on their impact, since the damage done to Nature sounds somewhat more serious than removing some kind of emotion. Similarly, I doubt emotions will have any of that feel of this noble, but somewhat too eager fight of Light with Darkness.

Similarly, GdM felt powerful, because they were advanced alien race, magically and technologically, present in an endless space. This fantasy/sci-fi setting felt good with MARDEK and appeals to me more than emotion-based pocket universe, which while somewhat poetic and creative, lacks the grandness the previous setting had.

That being said, I do look forward to seeing the characterizations of the new GdM and hearing the new music.
