This is the first blog post thing on this new version of the site. How exciting!1

There are a lot of things that still need adding, but most of the key features should work. If you find anything that doesn't work, then please report it here!

I think I found a bug.

When someone gets rated down, after a month aren't their orb supposed to go away?

I've found a couple people that still have their orbs, after 3 months. I forgot their page, but I KNOW I've seen it before.

I don't know if this has been brought to your attention before, but I've noticed that there's something wrong with the polls when viewed as a mere passerby, as opposed to a member of this site. When not logged in, any poll I view is prefaced by a large number of error messages like this:

Notice: Undefined index: FID in /home/yalort/public_html/__experiments/SITE_2011_C/code/common.php on line 11

I don't know what causes that, but it only shows up when not logged in, which is strange. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention if you didn't know about it already. If you did, well, then, sorry for being redundant.

Unregisterd and I found today that clicking on an Interest via the 'Interests' userpage tab leads to the wrong Aspect. This doesn't seem to occur with other types of Aspects that are linked from userpages, like religion, or with Words, and seems to only have started happening very recently— at the time I visited the 'Paranormal' Interest to post, it certainly seemed to be working fine!

Thanks for your attention, and such.

I've done a little research and it seems that when you have links to interests on your userpage, the ID they redirect to is equal to its number on your page (starting from 0), rather than actual interest page. So if you have interests e.g. "Dragons", "Insects", "Stoats", they will redirect to aspects with IDs 0, 1, 2, respectively. I don't know what code is behind it all, but it seems that replacing one variable should do the thing, fortunately. ^^

Oh, and just in case: yes, it works wrong for both Likes and Dislikes. However, personality Words thingy seems to work fine.

I've now fixed this.

It seems I introduced it while trying to get the entries to sort properly, case-insensitively. Currently I have 'guns' rather than 'Guns' as a Dislike, because someone created the lowercase version first. It appears at the end of my list since 'G' and 'g' aren't the same, according to the sorting function that I'm using, so... yes, I was trying to fix that.
It didn't work though, so I'll have to just leave it as it is.

Well uhh hi hi Pseudo!

I would just like to ask if there is any other way to look at your PMs when you don't have a new PM. I currently know of only one way to access the PM's page which is to click PM in your profile. It's just a bit troublesome because I have to go to my profile first before I could check my PMs. In the old site, you can access your PMs easily because there's a link to it beside the message link at the upper right.

I would just like to know if you made anything to make up for the deletion of that feature. Thank you!

I've now finally got around to doing something about this. The number of PMs that you have now shows up beside the number of messages that you have, even if you have 0.

I'm not really fond of this though... I liked how it only appeared if you had one or more PMs to see to. So any alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a suggestion, though it isn't really too much different to what is already there. Basically what I'm thinking is that if you have no new PMs, it just says 'PMs', but if you do have new PMs, it could say 'x New PMs', or something like that.

A (Minor, depending on how you look at it) bug I found. When you attempt to log in from a different computer than you initially 'validated' your account on, you must validate it on that computer, which in turn causes you to have to re-validate the original computer if you want to log back in there.

Re-validating it didn't do any good-- in fact, I've been using this computer to log on to this site for several days. I don't know why it's chosen today to stop. The only way I can get on is using the activation link A β Pseudolonewolf sent in the e-mails. And that's the *only* way. After I log off, I can't log on. I haven't tested it on my laptop yet, but I don't think it'll produce the same results, if what MyNameisNobody said is true. If what MyNameisNobody said is true, then I should be able to log on.

Ah, Perhaps I wasn't clear. When I said 're-validating', I meant clicking on that link again to validate your account. It may be a bug in logging on in general, not having anything to do with the computer you use...

I just got on my other computer-- the one I used to validate my account originally-- and it can't log on either. It is most likely a problem with my account.

I have the same problem, blech. Each time I try logging in, the site informs me that the password is incorrect, resulting in me having to re-validate each time, no matter what computer I'm using. It's inconvenient, but not disabling.

I've noticed something strange in the "Words" section of the site... when looking at the "Most Popular" section of that page, the last word (No. 20) is listed as "Chocolate" and supposedly has 5 people using that word to describe themselves. However, when clicked upon, only Neah uses that word, apparently. I don't know if that's because too few people have used enough words for an accurate chart to be made, but it's something that, though minor, should be looked at, I think.

Edit: I've just realized that, on further consideration, it's actually there because Neah used it to describe herself five times, leading the word to pop up as one of the most popular words used *even though* only one user has actually used it. Is there a way you could filter out words repeated by a single user?

*BUG REPORTS*

There seems to be an error of some sort with Cipherfalcon. His name on chat suddenly was accompanied by what I assume to be error text. I don't know if this is something wrong with the site, or him.

Screenshot: ∞ LINK ∞

Edit:
The problem appears to have magically fixed itself, but before, the error was on his userpage as well.

Edit:
Found something else. I thought it was funny when I resized the text input thing for the chat...

That happens when someone tries to change their location to a value not on the list, or to nothing, which can only really be achieved through hackery at the moment.
So anyone with that bug happening around them has likely been manipulating the form data in hacky ways, which is breaking one of the rules.

Found another one: I gave Brokenergy a blurb earlier, but I decided to retract it. Apparently, the "Noteworthy" medal remains intact for him despite having no remaining blurbs. Maybe this is intentional? I'm not sure, though so I'm reporting it anyway.

I saw also that you gave Leaf banpoints for spamming "And the pigs" on his interests. I think I also deserve banpoints since I wrote Penguins ten times on my ten words list, instead of writing a different one for each. In fact, I think Leafy got the idea from me. I didn't know it was such a bad thing. I thought it'd be amusing way to demonstrate my "Penguin syndrome", rather than to show off how there's something wrong with the system. There was nothing wrong on the old site about filling in all your likes list with the same thing, so I thought the same thing applied to the 10 words on this version. o.o
Well, I removed it now, so you won't see it anyway! Still, it probably won't be fair to Leafy that he get banpoints whereas I remain untouched.

I don't have a bug to report other than the ones listed here, but I'd love to get a message or something similar if someone posted in a forum topic where I wrote something, too. It would be easier to follow the discussions there if I always knew somebody posted a new idea.

I've really grown to like this site more and more now that I'm using it a bit more. But, uh, I've also found a few things that should be looked into as well:

I've noticed lately that this site really doesn't like apostrophes. For instance, in the chat, if someone has an apostrophe in their entry or exit messages, those messages will not display at all.

Inside spoiler tags, links that are just put into it don't work correctly (see image: ∞ LINK ∞ Sorry about the really hard to read theme).
Also, while I'm speaking of spoiler tags, if you put quotation marks inside spoilers, the forward slash things appear before the quotes (This: ∞ LINK ∞ becomes this: ∞ LINK ∞ ). This happens in both bios and the chat.

Also, the alphabetizing of the words is really weird. For instance, the letter 'F': ∞ LINK ∞ . Also, on interests pages, it seems that if a certain interest is not capitalized, it is put at the end of the list, despite not fitting in there ( ∞ LINK ∞ ).

These things have really stuck out to me, and I hope you'll be able to find a way to fix them. Also, I really hope no one else brought these up before, I'd feel pretty silly then.

Actually, the first few problems you address were present on the old site as well. Entry and exit messages containing an apostrophe would work, but if the Settings were changed again, the apostrophe and everything that came after it would disappear. So yeah, Figs really don't like apostrophes.

Nobody had mentioned these things before, but thankfully they were easy for me to fix.

Links don't work in code tags, but it's proving rather difficult to fix so I'll get around to that at a later date.

There may also be some pages where the sorting of words is putting those that start with lowercase last; I only fixed it for the Words and Interests pages (the ones accessible from the Community tab). So if you know of any other pages, tell me and I'll fix them there too.

Ooooh. That's quite a weird bug: ∞ Fig Hunter ∞

I'm not sure if this will show up the same way fro everyone, but I opened this page and all I see next to Ricky T Hedge's comment is some error in the ratings interface. It keeps showing up as: Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in /home/yalort/public_html/__experiments/SITE_2011_C/templates/ratings_interface.php on line 21

I also wonder what it's caused by. I've noticed that comments with this bug are rather short, but apparently it's not that. I mean, I tried writing one-line comments, and the bug didn't occur (I've tried copy-pasting the entire Ricky's comment here, too). Well, I'll try to find other possible things which cause this problem...

Oh well, I guess we'll need to wait for Pseudo, I hope he can understand what these errors are about. Here's another comment for which this bug happens: ∞ Fig Hunter ∞

(my, my, apparently when LINK is too big for current line and goes to another one, there's a little vertical line left on the old line; could it be connected with some stoopid highlighting? O.o)

I can't remember if you were in the chatroom at the time I fixed this, but it turns out that it was due to a rating being added, then removed, leaving no ratings but the post was still marked as having ratings. Or something.
It shouldn't happen again though, because if all ratings are removed now, the post is un-marked as having ratings.
