Miasmon Bestiary 18: Damserulean

Game Information

Types: Insectoid / Aquatic
Stage: Transient

The transient evolution of Cyanymph. This all-female species swims gracefully through the air, its six delicate wings trailing and billowing like silk ribbons in water.

Design Notes

The pose is silly, but I can't be bothered redoing this concept art. I'll probably correct it for the sprite, though.

Heirubeus has cyan highlights that go well with its red, but red highlights on this just look evil and wrong, so it's more monochromatic as a result.

It's based on a damselfly, and its name incorporates that as 'damsel', and 'cerulean', the shade of blue.

Miasmon Bestiary 17: Heirubeus

Game Information

Types: Insectoid / Flame
Stage: Transient

The evolved form of Carminymph. Its wings - which appear to be made of pure energy - constantly flicker in and out of existence, but rarely flap.

Design Notes

Those wings are completely impractical, but looks are all that really matter with these monsters since it's not like they obey the laws of physics!

I designed this around the time I designed Sinistoat and Pebbill, back in February, though this is the first time I've drawn a full coloured version thing.

Its name comes from 'Heir' - because Carminymph and Cyanymph have 'royalty' as a theme, the transient form being a prince and princess; the golden pattern on the head is meant to represent a crown - and 'rubeus' (Latin for red... maybe).

Miasmon Bestiary 16: Sinistoat

Game Information

Types: Bestial
Stage: Transient

The Transient stage is said to be known as a monster's 'teenage years', and nowhere is this more apparent than in this evolved Modestoat.
They believe that nobody understands them, and that they are much more mature than other Transient monsters.
It's started dabbling in the occult.

Design Notes

Originally, Modestoat evolved straight into its final form, which is named Estoateric, but I wanted to give it a transitional form, hence this thing. It amuses me to think of a 'teenager' monster, especially one that evolves from something so timid.

It would probably be some kind of 'dark' type if these was one, but there isn't.

Estoateric is Bestial/Psionic, so it makes sense that this would 'dabble in the occult'.

I bet every teenager who plays the game will totally love this pleasant stereotype.

This is apparently the first non-Essent form I've shown!

I'm being fairly sloppy with the art since I just want to communicate ideas, not create masterpieces, and I've got a lot of these to get through. The pixel art will be more refined.
