Posts relating to Miasmon Bestiary:
The ancients that inhabited Fracture before it was fractured were rather boring reptilian humanoids, probably. The world is littered with their ruins, which are inhabited by monsters based on them rather than on humans. So there are things like this floating skull - one of their skulls, rather than a human skull, as that wouldn't make any sense.
I like how this as a drawing turned out, but anatomically it's nonsensical, and I haven't actually properly designed the Elarna yet... but I should have done that before doing one of their skulls. So I may change the design later, perhaps. If I do, though, the differences will likely only be small. Maybe. Probably.
It evolves into something called Skelarna, which I mention since it seems an obvious name that I want to show I've already come up with before anyone suggests it, or something. o_O
Types: Bestial / Stone
It's been a while since I added one of these!
Most of the pixelated sprites for the game are done, you see, so I have to draw these non-pixelated versions AFTER the sprites, and usually can't be bothered... In this case, however, I haven't done the sprite yet, so I did this drawing first and will base the sprite directly on it, probably. I'll likely do the same with the next few as well.
The quality of the lines isn't quite as neat as the previous ones since I did it in a hurry; I never want to spend more than 'a few minutes' on these things for some reason.
These canine monsters guard ancient ruins. They have no eyes, but have a powerful sense of smell, which they use to detect intruders. Their bodies are made of sturdy stone.
I designed most of the Miasmon in the first half of the year, then went a long while getting distracted by other things, not adding any more to the list. This is one of the newer ones, though, added only recently in a 'second wave' of additions. It's the first one I've added to this blog which now has a drawing before it has an in-game sprite.
It's got a fairly bland name, seeing as it's a real word, but it's fitting for what it is. Surely I shouldn't have to explain it... right?!
Its evolved forms follow a pattern that will make the intended meaning even clearer.
I'm not sure whether to make it Humanoid/Insectoid or Insectoid/Humanoid. There's no difference between the two in terms of battle stats or anything, but it's like the difference between, say, a Water/Dark Pokemon and a Dark/Water one. No performance difference, but which seems more like the 'primary' aspect?
In Miasmon, though, each monster has a little icon which is shaped like its primary type and coloured like its secondary type... So this could have a little brown man, or a peach insect thing. Hmm.
Anyway, eight! And here I was wondering whether I could keep this up for more than about three!
