Posts relating to Miasmon Bestiary:
Game InformationTypes: Humanoid / Plantoid
Goblinoid monsters with mushroom traits. They hop and skip around in forests, flapping their floppy ears mid-jump to gain extra height and air time. Their nose is often irritated by the spores that their mushroom cap produces.
Design NotesObviously these are from MARDEK.
I did the sprites for these aaages ago, right near the start of development of this game (which was far, far too long ago, ugh), but I'm adding this quick drawing of one here because I also want to add the Transient form.
They were originally planned for chapter 1, but then when I wanted to add 4 chapters instead, they were put off until chapter 2... Now they'll be in chapter 1 again.
Game InformationTypes: Insectoid / Aquatic
The transient evolution of Cyanymph. This all-female species swims gracefully through the air, its six delicate wings trailing and billowing like silk ribbons in water.
Design NotesThe pose is silly, but I can't be bothered redoing this concept art. I'll probably correct it for the sprite, though.
Heirubeus has cyan highlights that go well with its red, but red highlights on this just look evil and wrong, so it's more monochromatic as a result.
It's based on a damselfly, and its name incorporates that as 'damsel', and 'cerulean', the shade of blue.
Game InformationTypes: Insectoid / Flame
The evolved form of Carminymph. Its wings - which appear to be made of pure energy - constantly flicker in and out of existence, but rarely flap.
Design NotesThose wings are completely impractical, but looks are all that really matter with these monsters since it's not like they obey the laws of physics!
I designed this around the time I designed Sinistoat and Pebbill, back in February, though this is the first time I've drawn a full coloured version thing.
Its name comes from 'Heir' - because Carminymph and Cyanymph have 'royalty' as a theme, the transient form being a prince and princess; the golden pattern on the head is meant to represent a crown - and 'rubeus' (Latin for red... maybe).
