I just find the idea of having the government rule over everything a dumb idea, and vice versa. Things need to be balanced, which is why communism and socialism have at many times failed. Of course, I can't vouch for my country either. Democracy is just as bad. There is no 'perfect system' just like there is no 'perfect person.' Socialism also takes away many rights, which I dislike, and it also limits other things. Of course, as I said, I am no expert. The system I have any problems with is one that refuses to give people basic rights.

Also, the term capitalism has become very warped, and is no longer what our forefathers wanted it to be. People don't see this because they are too busy arguing about it. Maybe if we didn't argue so much we may feel a little better off. Socialism should stay socialism, and not try to change everyone else, just like capitalism should stay capitalism.

I picked the hate option simply because I don't like the theory behind socialism, is all. Yes.

Do you really know what socialism or communism (which you apparently equal with one another) is really about or do you simply only know how it turned out in reality the few times it was tried?

Since, you see, the thing about capitalism and what your forefathers wanted it to be, the same thing can be very similarly applied to for example socialism and what it is originally meant to be.

When has democracy given away basic rights? As for socialism, it is very similar to communism, except for the fact that you are paid based on how much work is done, and that of unequal pay for distributed goods. The 'states' and 'government' control everything, and the whole thing seems unbalanced. I know socialism was originally meant to be different, but I don't care. I don't support it and I think it is a little wrong.

Maybe I am biased, and maybe I don't have the definition quite right, but I just find the whole thing too perfect to work properly.

I don't HATE communism or socialism and its many forms, I actually find it quite interesting as I have studied it over a bit in class. In fact, one of my aunt's parents is a communist, and hates democracy, though she changed to not hating it after a while. So I guess we can both love and hate each others systems, but in the end, there is no need to argue.

Democracy? What has democracy to do with that? As far as I know Socialism is only about economics, about the market and about who owns the means of production. Why should a communist hate Democracy? Communism is one of the more advanced forms of Democracy, or is it not? You shouldn't confuse economic systems like Capitalism and Socialism with governmental forms like Democracy or Monarchy or something. This all interlocks somehow of course, in certain theories, like the communistic one, but those really are different things.

Anyway, it doesn't matter! I didn't want to start a discussion or anything, I hope it didn't seem that way. I really just wanted to know if you know more about it and dislike those systems because of the real theory behind them or just because you don't know what they're really about. Now I know that it's probably the second one.

I just thought it's strange that you defend capitalism by saying it was not meant to be how it is today, but don't let that count for socialism.

I, for example, think that the systems all could be good and function, if humans weren't inherently, how to say it carefully?, well, assholes.

@People who disliked this, why do you hate socialism? As in the economic type. And do you prefer communism, liberal capitalism, conservative capitalism, or pure capitalism?

I prefer capitalism. More pure than conservative. I think that it's a much more natural economic system. Because capitalism happens when you allow people to buy things that they like. Popular things make their creators money, and then they can use that money to create more things that people like. That person will often become wealthy because of their success. I think that that person most of what they earned because they worked for it.

I don't like socialism because it takes money away from hard working people and gives it to people who aren't working as hard. Now before you start yelling at me that lots of people who do work hard can't get jobs, I understand that. BUT, when you take money away from the people who are working, you give them less incentive to keep working because they don't even get to keep all they work for in the first place. And if there is less money in the pocket of the average American, they are probably less donations to help the poorer people in the country.

To put it more succinctly, I believe society works better when people get to keep most of the money that they work for and can feel good about giving away their money to those less fortunate than them instead of having it taken away without them getting a say in how that money was spent.

I do hope that answers your question. I often have trouble articulating what I want to say in text.
