(I can't seem to find a good introduction, so I will just launch into the purpose of the comment.)

What level of Latin are you in, or what is the highest level of Latin you have taken? It is a very simple question, one that requires only a very simple answer. I just completed Latin II. Next year I will be taking Latin III. In the mean time, I am studying so that I don't forget any of the Latin I have learned. What about everyone else? What level of Latin are you in, or what is the highest level of Latin you have taken?

I believe Latin is considered an academic language because it has many uses in academic fields and theological fields, but no were else. Many other languages are used in this way, but most are overshadowed by the fact that they are a spoken language. On the other side of the spectrum, we have languages that are not spoken, but are not academic either. Latin is just in the middle of this line, making it the perfect language to show academic skills. I myself am learning Latin, to a measurable degree of success.
