Honestly, most people think than 4chan=/b/.

All b does is be a society with absolutely no rules, and while it's filled with all those gross things, it proves something - Anarchy doesn't work. Something more people should know.

But, if you look into the SFW boards(such as tg, which I visit very often.) you pretty much get what you ask for, with no gore or death.

/this is wrong, 4 chan is not only b, and all b does.../*

I tend to forget to fully write sentences

4chan is very interesting as a sample of how an almost rule-less society will evolve over time. It started off as a good idea - a English version of the Japanese 2chan, and has since decayed into a troll haven as Grandmasterlich said.

Definitely an interesting, but oft misused, image board. Sadly, it is a troll's paradise as of now, and I doubt it shall ever recover.

It was never misused. //b// happened and they succeeded brilliantly. Besides, this is where the GIFT truly applies.

Hmmm... it does have good parts, but many are decrepit, spam-filled wastelands, havens for trolls. There are points of light though.

Such as when that kid abused his cat and posted it on 4chan. He got arrested by his local authorities thanks to anon putting the world out. Besides, numerous lulz are to be had from //b//, especially during the Shirley Phelps-Anonymous interview, where Anonymous managed to hack into the Westboro Church website and post something.

The 4Chan website does have some... odd... content.

I think odd is a pretty weak understatement for what's on that site.

Okay, correction: Clinically Insane, and for the D&D-ers out there, an abberant monstrosity.

For the life force of the Internet, I don't think any adjectives will ever do it justice.

I disagree with thy first point, it is not the life force of the internet- but it is resisting control, which is good. But otherwise, it is not a lifeforce- more of a non-vital organ. It is important, but not vital. To be fair, the internet is so unpredictable and chaotic that almost none but IP and the World Wide Web are truly essential, and maybe not even then.
