I wonder why more people aren't like you, straight-forward about your sexuality and unafraid about what people think.

Are you being sarcastic? There are hundreds of reasons why people would want to keep their sexuality secret. Hate-crimes and rejection by their family, friends, society or even country are probably top of the list. Discrimination is prevalent, even in areas with strong human rights.

Many people also don't accept *themselves*, which is often easier for bisexual people, who often either just pretend their same-sex attractions don't exist, or they just acknowledge, but simply decide not to act on them in the hopes of leading a simpler, more socially accepted life. I know of some gay men that come out in their 70s, having married with grandkids. Many probably never do accept themselves. It's not necessarily about fearing what other people think; it's often about fearing the death penalty, being beaten or thrown to the streets; sometimes it's about fearing being forced to undergo surgery to change gender; sometimes it's about fearing not being loved. Peer pressure is a reason, but there are genuine concerns too.

I suppose you are right, I'm sorry if I came off sarcastic, it's just that I'm tired of sexual prejudice and wish everyone could be more open without becoming rejected...

That would be nice, but there'll always be this awkwardness due to some traditional values. I understand the States are still not necessarily all-accepting of the other persuasion. Besides, bisexuals might be worse off sometimes because some heterosexuals will disapprove of the partial homosexual relationships and some homosexuals will think we're just on the fence and should be true to ourselves.

But the one benefit we most definitely have is we get twice the relationships and potential lovers. Ain't complaining 'bout that.

I'm amazed, and glad, to find so many people who're forthright with their sexuality. The world needs more confident people. Or something of that sort. o.O

Well, forthright on here anyways. I'm still a bit cautious about people knowing in person.

...that's fair enough. I suppose I'm very often the same, and rather timid. The online world is certainly a forum for extreme honesty and dishonesty.

Also that there's an infinitesimally small chance that we'll ever meet in real life and people we know probably won't frequent this site.

Having said that, there are an unusually high proportion of people that claim not to know their sexuality on FH ∞ Fig Hunter ∞ . Whilst this is probably entirely accurate, they'd probably have an easier time discovering it if their society was more accepting. I have also noticed that a lot of people that claim to be bi/homosexual claim the complete opposite on the forums, or hide this aspect of themselves. It's better than it could be, but ultimately, a lot of people are still unwilling to be honest, even online.
