We won evolution. So we're all winners. Except all the other organisms we murder for our own good... Darn...

We won evolution? Let's come back in a few thousand years and see what we'll find ...

One does not win evolution, one can only loose, evolutionary success is defined by how long a species can delay it's extinction, and so far, Homo sapiens hasn't lived near long enough to qualify.

if anything, jellyfish are the winners (they predate most dinosaurs, they have to be doing something well).

In that case wouldn't bacteria be the winner? And yes, all organisms are in on this competition. Perhaps I should start a thread on it and make people take bets on organisms so I can take the filthy money all for myself!!1

There are different species of bacteria, and with the speed at which they mutate, they kinda loose a few hours in.

And there's only one species of jellyfish that remained unchanged the last few billion years?

I'm just saying humans are far from being the winners of the evolutionary race, especially considering such a thing is pretty much impossible.

That much is clear, but that doesn't change the fact that when you wouldn't be considering bacteria the 'winner' of evolution you can't possibly consider jellyfish the winner either.

Jellyfish have stayed constant without much mutation for millions of years, the current formula works (perhaps too well, they are driving some species to extinction, the lack of turtles doesn't help either) and has worked for millions of years, bacteria on the other hand has this habit of changing species constantly, sometimes within just one lifetime.

There may be some jellyfish species that did stay alot like they were millions of years ago, but the same thing goes for some bacteria species. For example cyanobacteria. They were around for like ever and still are. You may argue that they aren't exactly the same, genetically, as those billions of years ago (not that we could know that from anywhere) but that's presumably the same as with jellyfish.

I think you meant to say that we've become the most advanced animals on the planet. As the others said, we haven't really won evolution... Bacteria and/or jellyfish did.

Now, we actually are the most advanced animals on Earth, since we:
- Are on every continent on Earth.
- Create our own habitats
- Use the planet's resources to our advantage
- Have attained a higher sense of being
- Have a rich history filled with many things, like anguish and enlightenment.
- And have invented ∞ Medabots. ∞

Bacteria don't even know about Churchill.

HEY! What's wrong with humans? I think they're pretty swell! In fact, I'm one! And it's great being a human! For one thing, you can get your own pizza with your own toppings! All life would have to be crazy not to want that.

Well, I guess we all can't be top hats, blurry snails, cats and fictional monsters now can we? Stop hatin' on humans, huters! (human + hater) >:C
