The word "candy" is now patented by King (makers of Candy Crush)! No joke! ∞ LINK ∞

My attitude on candy varies depending on what type of candy I'm eating. There are a couple candies that I think are way too sweet and I can never eat them, but then there are some that aren't sweet enough. I'm usually never a picky eater and I don't consider myself one with candy, but I have very odd tastebuds when it comes to sweets.

Is anyone else like that? Or is my tongue just bipolar? >_< haha

My mother is a dental hygienist, and she always tells me how bad candy is for my teeth. But I don't care! I'm a candy addict and I'm proud of it! If anything, I can't wait until my teeth fall out. Then I won't have to worry about my teeth when I'm eating candy with dentures!

Candy!!

∇ Candy, candy, oh how I love my candy! In all seriousness, I've been pretty much addicted to candy ever since my mother brought me candy canes back from the United States of America (she was there on a business trip or something, I forget). From that trail of words, you'd expect candy canes to be my favourite or something, right? :D

WRONG! I hated it D:< Candy canes taste awful! It did open me up to other shapes and flavours, though. Sour gum drops, gummy worms, profiteroles! It's a miracle my teeth haven't frizzled >_>

Candy Canes ARE awful. Just like Minties, if you know what they are. Mint flavoured candy-lollies are never good.

I don't really like candy canes, but have you tried butter-scotch ones? They're yellow and brown and *Delicious!* They are so sweet and caramel-ly and... awesome! I first had one in Grade 1 when we had a trip to the library and for every book we took out, we got a candy cane. Ever since my first one then, I've been addicted to them. (mouth waters)

North Americans gets the best novelty candies, there's a really big market for them here. The question is: Which came first, the American obesity "crisis" or the massive size of the American candy industry?

I would say the industry came before obesity, as obesity is the result of mass consumption. I say this because "novelty" candies as you said, have been around for almost a century, whilst the obesity "crisis" is more recent. (time-wise)

You're right, novelty candy and snack prices did not cause the obesity "crisis". But they are probably an important cause, and they became much more affordable about the time obesity began to rise.
