I'm not really a fan of metal of any kind. It's too loud and it's mostly screaming with no discernible lyrics.

Metal has its roots with clean vocals. Entire subgenres like Heavy Metal or Power Metal utilise clean vocals. While vocals in more extreme subgenres like Black or Death Metal can be hard to discern, especially to people not used to them, they only represent a fraction of the repertoire the Metal genre as a whole has to offer. Case in point:
∞ Dio - Don't Talk To Strangers ∞
∞ Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name ∞
∞ Helloween - Future World ∞
∞ Rhapsody - Emerald Sword ∞

You are of course free to dislike Metal, but while volume may be subject to personal preference, the claim that Metal of all kinds is mostly indiscernible screaming is wrong, plain and simple.

You're right. Most of the instrumentals are disagreeable for me, however.

Well, this is quite the popular genre here on Fig Hunter... I was quite surprised to see it here at all. I'm rather curious, what death/doom/funeral bands do the other Figs listen to. Share some links perhaps? Not here, mind, we don't want the malicious linking infractions given out left and right, but rather through PMs. I'm willing to share my collection as well of course.
